Ron Taylor

Managing Principal


As the Managing Principal for the Denver Regional Planning Office, Ron is responsible for helping financial planners grow and manage their practices. With over 15 years experience in the financial services industry, Ron brings a unique mix of sales, leadership, management and consulting skills to bear to help planners develop professionally by balancing client aquisition, service and effective resource utilization. He is responsible for the growth and development of the Lincoln Financial Advisors/Sagemark Consulting brand in both Colorado & Wyoming. Ron also actively promotes sales of Lincoln fixed life and annuity products through insurance brokerage.

Chad is a comprehensive financial planner and Investment Advisory Rpresentative with Lincoln Financial Advisors / Sagemark Consulting. Chad provides accountability to help clients make informed decisions regarding adjustments that may, or may not, need to be made over time to ensure clients are positioned for a reasonable probability of success relative to their goals. Through his experience over five years in practice, he has found that offering strategic and independent advice promotes a comfortable team environment with his clients. His unique approach to wealth accumulation, wealth preservation and retirement income strategies deliver significant, measurable reults to his clients.

During his time as college and professional baseball player Chad visited 32 states , but he never found a place he loved more than Denver. Born in Boulder and raised in Littleton, He now lives in one of Denver's famed bungalows with his wife Emily, daughter Emerson and dog Oliver. Chad enjoys being with family, playing in the park with the dog, skiing and tennis. Known for being funny, loyal and charismatic, when he retires, Chad and his wife hope to run an animal sanctuary.

For the last 24 years, Jay has been active in financial consulting, planning, and analysis. In the early 1990’s, he worked as an Experienced Senior Consultant for Arthur Andersen. He later served as the Director of Finance for a software technology firm and assisted in taking the company public. He also served as a Director of Finance for an online education firm.

Since 2002, Jay has applied his financial planning and analysis skills to an affluent clientele consisting primarily of business owners, retirees/pre-retirees, and professionals. He is a recognized leader in providing financial and estate planning services and has built a reputation for helping his clients, grow, preserve, protect and transition family wealth.

Jay earned his MBA from the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business. He later served on the Daniels College of Business Alumni Advisor Board, as well as the University of Denver Alumni Council. He is also a graduate of Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. He also earned the Charted Retirement Plan Counselor (CRPC®) designation from the College for Financial Planning. Finally, Jay was listed in the 2012 and 2013 Denver Five-Star Wealth Manager advertising supplements in 5280 and ColoradoBiz magazines. He enjoys outdoor activities such as golf, mountain biking, and skiing, and lives in Highlands Ranch with his wife, Lene, and their four children.

Jeff Guard


Jeff D. Shafer, CPA*


For the last 21 years, Jeff has been active in the areas of Accounting and Finance. In the mid 1990’s, he worked as an Experienced Senior Auditor for Arthur Andersen. He later served in various senior Accounting and Finance roles at First Data Corp., most notably as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of one of First Data’s subsidiaries, and, most recently, in a Head of Operations role for the same subsidiary.

In 2013, Jeff joined McCrea Allen to apply his financial planning and analysis skills to an affluent clientele consisting primarily of business owners, senior corporate executives and professionals helping clients, grow, preserve, protect and transition family wealth.

Jeff earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Colorado State University. He is an avid rock and ice climber and enjoys other outdoor activities such as mountain biking, running and camping. Jeff grew up in Denver and lives in Highlands Ranch with his wife, Kelly and their two daughters.

Mark Healiss


Mark was born and educated in Europe and Africa, and has lived
in Denver since 1999. He received his Degree in Purchasing
Management with honors from Business Management School.
He originally joined the financial services industry in 1988 where
he worked for the Howson Group in London. He started and
owned two companies in Africa which evolved into a 5 million
dollar a year business. He learned the value of planning after his
potential inherited wealth was diminished through estate

Mark has been a financial advisor in Denver with Lincoln Financial Advisors since March of 2002 where he
concentrates on individual plans for highly successful
professionals and entrepreneurs. His areas of expertise are
family planning, business continuation and investment strategies.

Michael Cohen, CRPC®


Mike Cohen entered the financial planning industry in 1983 when he joined Cigna Financial Advisors as a Financial Planner. During his years with Cigna / Sagemark Consulting and, following the acquisition in 1998 by Lincoln Financial Advisors Corp., Mike has been recognized by the community and the company for his excellence in client attention, service and detail. Mike was listed as one of Denver’s Top Wealth Advisors by 5280 magazine in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Mike is also a member of the Premier Partners Group inside of Lincoln Financial Advisors.

In Mike’s 30 year tenure, he has specialized in complex estate, business succession planning, investment planning and financial independence issues for high net worth clientele. His practice has grown nearly exclusively through the referrals of the estate and tax professionals along the front range of Colorado. Mike’s particular expertise has been with capital extensive industries. His clients span nearly all aspects our economy from service industries to manufacturing.

Mike graduated from Colorado College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. In 2010, he earned the designation of Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) through the College for Financial Planning.

Pat Gregory


J. Pat founded Gregory & Associates, Inc. in 1969. For 44 years, he has provided Retirement Income, Investment, Insurance advice and designed retirement plans for public entities and private businesses alike. Gregory & Associates has been closely affiliated with the Special Districts Association of Colorado since its inception in 1975 and currently provides financial services to 29 district members. From 1984-1996 J. Pat was the exclusive marketer for the State of Colorado’s 457 plan. Through his experience, he credits personal relationships as the catalyst for the business. Ray Benton is a Financial Planner and an Investment Advisory Representative with Lincoln Financial Advisors Corp., Inc. where he is currently a member of Private Wealth Services.

He was enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service in June of 1984, and continues to maintain a specialization in tax-related strategies including charitable giving, estate planning techniques, small business integrative planning, retirement plans, executive compensation design, and tax-effective investment planning.

Mr. Benton received his BA degree from Oklahoma State University and his graduate studies include an MA from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) and a BD from Chicago Theological Seminary, where his studies focused on Social Ethics and Philosophy. He is an active member of the Financial Planning Association and was the first president of the Financial Planning Association of Colorado. He has been a contributor locally and nationally to various television shows and publications, and for more than a decade hosted his own financial talk radio show in Denver.

Executive Director of Sagemark Consulting Private Wealth Services


As of October 2003 Russ assumed the role of Executive Director of Sagemark Consulting Private Wealth Services of Lincoln Financial Advisors (LFA). His primary area of expertise lies within the high net worth market where Russ is responsible for the development of key concepts and strategies that will have a significant impact on the financial lives of these individuals and families.

A national resource to comprehensive financial planners working with clients whose net worth’s are typically $20 million to over $1 billion, Russ provides planners with advanced training expertise and sophisticated sales design ideas. He has distinguished himself specifically in the areas of life insurance, estate, business owner planning and investment strategies for affluent business owners and individuals. He is much sought after in financial planning publishing circles for advice and input and has recently been published in the National Underwriter publication. Russ is also a member of and a trained Legacy Planning specialist.

Prior to assuming his role as Executive Director, Russ was the Regional Chief Executive Officer of Sagemark Consulting in Denver for 12 years. He led and supported a team of 100 financial planners and management personnel.

Russ has been a main platform speaker at the annual conference of the International Association of Financial Planning, the Allied Jewish Federation’s Annual Estate Planning Forum, GAMA International’s LAMP meeting, The Morgan Stanley National Estate & Insurance Planning meeting and numerous technical and business management sessions for LFA-Sagemark’s regional chief executive officers and senior financial planners.

Additionally, Russ leads LFA sessions at their annual Planning Forum, Fall Focus, Vice Presidents Seminar and Resource Group meetings. He has also served on the LFA Operating Board, The Resource Group Board and a number of LFA-Sagemark Sub-committees.

Stephanie Herdahl


Stephanie L. Herdahl, president and founder of Next Generation Wealth Systems™, has been serving individuals, business owners, and special needs families for the past 20 years. She’s the clients’ team quarterback and the primary architect of the
financial plans that help her clients toward achieving financial independence.

Stephanie’s experience stretches across multiple disciplines to incorporate financial independence objectives, investment planning, college funding, cash flow management, tax reduction strategies, estate planning ideas, and business succession/exit strategies. Her educative approach empowers each client to reach a deeper understanding
of their financial decisions, moving them past the numbers to measurable objectives and creative wealth building strategies.

Stephanie’s approach is quite simple and direct. Specific objectives, a clear vision of the clients’ values and what financial independence looks like for them, coupled with her ability to focus their team of advisors on the overarching goals, results in measurable solutions. In essence, she creates the overall puzzle picture for everyone to follow,
identifies and shapes the pieces so they will fit together correctly,
and follows through to make sure it is accomplished.

Her hobbies include Equestrian horse jumping, snow skiing, Tae Kwondo, playing flute, reading, camping, wine, and movies.
